Jacks River Trail, Part One
Some great thoughts about Penguin posted in the comments; thank you. Thank you also for your patience in my getting to the moderation — it was a long weekend, but I loved nearly everything about it.
Unfortunately, it was overshadowed by a tragic event at the end of the hike: a hiker our party met and talked briefly to along the way suffered a heart attack on the rocks over the river and didn’t make it out. We were late getting back, and then, sore muscles aside, all I could do was think about that poor guy. At least he had family with him. and went out doing something he loved (he was carting a serious camera, now also lost to the river).
