It’s a nice photo, and pleasing appearance, but not exactly a slam-bang attention grabber. What is it in particular that you like about it?

It makes me feel happy. It’s personal.

It makes me think of the very cold day when Giles took the photograph on the ferry from Atlantic Highlands and the snowball fight we had at Georgian Court College days earlier. It makes me think about the Thai lunch we had a couple of hours later. The cover reminds me of my visit to the Daughters of St. Paul bookstore later that afternoon. It reminds me of going to Zoe on Prince Street with Jane and Carla.

The cover is personal. That is why I like it.

What font is that?
I like that “G”.

The font’s AT Handle Oldstyle.

As usual, this was one of three covers presented — but I’m glad they chose this one. I’ve updated the entry with a JPG instead of PDF; thanks for posting, Amanda.

The photo’s supposed to make you think — post 9/11 NYC from an angle some won’t get without the WTC as a reference. The buildings in front are important, and have been in the news; speaks directly to the title and how cities are being priced out of reach. (That’s military housing soon to be developed. You know it ain’t going to be cheap, either.)

P.S. Metallic gold + Black duotone on a matte finish. Doesn’t translate too well to JPG.

Ah. It’s good to hear some of the context.

Here’s a tiny little thing: have you considered hanging the comma after ‘Slater’?

Mr Nitpick

Actually, it is — but InDesign hung the second “Y” in Wyly just a little, as well, so it’s not as obvious.
