Abandoned!

The author sat on this for nine months:

…And then said no, she’d hired someone else entirely. What!? Damn!

Self-publishers. Goes that way sometimes.

So what did the book really end up looking like?

Well, I don’t think she’s going to be able to do much better than that. I wouldn’t be surprised if she called you back later.

I have no idea, Brain, just that she’d made arrangements with someone else and that it had just gone to press. I’m keeping an eye out, though, believe me!

Now, that’s a pity. But someone else might (should!) find it useful, so maybe it will come in handy later.

Definitely in my idea file.

Brian, I just realized I called you “Brain.” Sheesh. Could be worse, but still.… Apologies.

It appears we’re all in agreement. It’s a very attractive cover.

Did the author give any reason for the rejection?

Nada. Just “here’s what I’ve done.”

As they say, moving forward.

I also love your design.
However, if it did not meet with the author’s approval she could have at least given you another shot at it instead of going to another designer.

Giles, did we ever bill for this??
