Evan's NYC Blackout Notes
When my screen suddenly went dead at 4:10 on Thursday, I assumed it was because of the faulty wiring at our office. No such luck!
I had a two-and-a-half hour walk home, which wasn’t too bad, since I got to disover the historic Freak Museum on Clinton Street. And a walk over the Williamsburg bridge into Brooklyn is always pleasant, even if you’re walking in a herd of thousands of people.
After crossing into Brooklyn, I found that restaurants were selling their remaining food — cheap! — and so I spent about four bucks on a thai dinner for myself and Sarah that would have ordinarly cost a lot more!
Of course, I had to meander past my favorite shop: The Clovis Press Bookstore on Bedford avenue, which summed up the experience on a chalkboard outside the store:
No AC? No TV?
What you are gonna do?
READ!
Well, that’s what a lot of Brooklyn people did on Friday. Reading, and a lot of outdoor cookouts. But the night before, there were fireworks, in defiance of the dark skies.
Twenty four hours later, we had power.
Overall, not such a bad experience. I enjoyed getting away from my computer for awhile. I hope to be a little more prepared next time.

Comments:
Evan, glad that you made it through and even got some tasty Thai food to boot!
The Freak Museum looks very cool.
